The Committee of ALPHA is organizing a series of stimulating symposia at which the Gerousia, the learned elders of our legal fraternity, will speak ("the logos") about their life experiences and/or judicial insights in the context of an Ancient Hellenic aphorism, saying or philosophicalthought.
ALPHA's 10th Symposium will be held on Thursday, 26 August 2010. Orator: His Honour Justice Hammerschlag. Judge in the Equity Division of The Supreme Court of New South Wales. | Topic: "Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit."
Quote by Aristotle: (384 BC – 322 BC). Aristotle was a Greek philosopher, a student of Plato and teacher of Alexander the Great. | |
